The Agency has paid 232.2 million denars for the use of certified seed material in the agricultural production

The Agency for Financial Support in Agriculture and Rural Development today has made payment to the Beneficiaries under the Measure for Direct Payments for used certified seed material for all agricultural crops, except tobacco.

The Agency has allocated 232.2 million denars to 8,435 beneficiaries.

Beneficiaries of this sub-measure are agricultural holdings that have registered the use of certified seed material for the production of wheat, barley, corn, rye, oats, triticale, buckwheat, sorghum, Sudan grass, millet, hops, flax, lentils, peanuts, cotton, anise, sugar beet, soybeans, sunflower, oilseed rape, rapeseed, poppy, phacelia, corn, asparagus, peas, chickpea, alfalfa, and rice.

"By supporting the use of certified seed material, we encourage the farmers to invest in higher quality crops and thereby increased yields in agricultural production. Taking into account the payment of basic direct payments for agricultural crops, state support in this sector amounts to over 650 million denars. The support is made in the period when the current harvest of grain and industrial crops is in progress, which will largely help reducing the input costs for the farms and the preparation for the upcoming activities" – emphasized the Director Bachovski

In the past period, the Agency is actively working on the implementation of Programs for Direct Payments and Subsidy Payments, implementation of the intervention fund, as well as on preparations for the new IPARD 3 Programming period, which comes as a new opportunity for the modernization of agricultural holdings, processing capacities and rural areas.

In the next period, financial support will be allocated for the delivered grain and industrial crops in domestic processing capacities, as well as payments for the produced and delivered fruit and horticultural crops.
